About the Position

For a one-year role, the Penguin Random House DEI team seeks a Research and Partnerships Fellow. to work on our Latinx Voices project in collaboration with One World. 

Relaunched in 2017, One World is home to award-winning and bestselling authors who are collectively leading the cultural conversation. Our authors include Ta-Nehisi Coates, Karla Cornejo Villavicencio,  Trevor Noah, Cathy Park Hong, Bryan Stevenson, Nikole Hanna-Jones, and Victor LaValle.

Our ideal Fellow will be a passionate advocate for Latinx authors and readers, responsible for researching, and then building connections with, Latinx organizations, influencers, media, and audiences. You’ll report into the Associate Director, DEI and work closely with both the DEI and One World teams on the Latinx Voices project, an initiative focused on connecting the company, authors, and titles with Latinx audiences and better supporting the publication of Latinx authors. One World, relaunched in 2017, is home to award-winning and bestselling authors who are collectively leading the cultural conversation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide research and outreach support to editorial, publicity, marketing, and sales with a focus on Latinx audiences and authors.

  • Create and maintain a database of research on Latinx focused media, influencers, communities, and partnership opportunities with functionality to sort by region of the U.S. and national origin.

  • Facilitate relationship building with external stakeholders, including non-profit partners, media contacts, influencers, and creative partnerships. 

  • Participate in brainstorm meetings and other creative department efforts to create replicable processes for marketing and publicity efforts on lab titles.

  • Research trends and competition and pull sales data. 

Qualifications

  • Two to three years of experience working in corporate, academic, journalism, or non-profit research

  • Experience facilitating/setting up external relationships at an organizational and individual level

  • Strong knowledge of Latinx audiences and community

  • Knowledge of Latinx audience development

  • Reading and listening proficiency in Spanish

  • Experiencing building and maintaining databases of contacts

  • Experience with original research and outreach

  • Exceptional organization skills, attention to detail, and follow-up

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience managing communication in a timely manner, across all means of communication.

  • Collaborative team player who can work effectively with people across many disciplines and career levels 

  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively, take initiative, prioritize, and problem solve in a fast-paced virtual and/or in-person office environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and ability to learn new applications

  • Data analysis experience a plus

Additional Information

The salary for this position is $60,000.  All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
