About the position

The Beauty & Style Group is seeking a Commerce Writer to write and update beauty and style product roundups and reviews. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is equally passionate about researching beauty and style products and explaining what to look for when buying a product. As the group's Commerce Writer, you will be responsible for writing and updating researched and testing-based roundups in the beauty and style category. We are looking for someone who can create quality content and that thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Audit content using competitor analysis, marketplace knowledge, and internal data (tested insights, for instance) to produce meaningful updates that help keep our content current.

  • Update existing lists and write new content for the Beauty and Style Group, maintaining high-quality standards along the way.

  • Research and write supplemental content like what to look for, pros/cons, buying guides, and more. This may involve conducting interviews and gathering original quotes that support the commerce content funnel.

  • Assist in our testing process, whether evaluating products at home, writing up results, attending lab testing days, or gathering insights from testers or community members.

  • Research new products and trends, as well as competitor picks, to make sure we're making the best recommendations to our readers.

  • Harness your category-level expertise to write first-person reviews and roundups, including video and photo capture like before and after images.

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed, some of which may require data analysis to help inform strategy.

  • Analyze market trends to discover the best beauty and style launches, and make conclusions about what makes them press-worthy.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years writing experience at an online publisher.

    • Ability to write about beauty and style products in an accessible way.

    • Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid writing and editing skills, as well as a deep understanding of what works in a digital media landscape.

    • A personal interest in all things beauty and style, an eye for products, and the know-how to provide the reader with different options that suit their needs. Although a beauty and fashion background is not necessary, knowledge of how to write about these topics as well as industry trends is a plus.

    • Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, lively headlines and blurbs, all the while keeping the voice of our Beauty and Style brands, values, style, and audience in mind.

    • Demonstrated commitment to using inclusive language and making sure copy speaks to all populations.

    • Self-starter who wants to work for a growing company.

    • Proven aptitude for communicating and collaborating with both remote editorial workers and in-house editorial team members.

    • College degree or equivalent experience required.
