About the Position

The Ad Sales Intern will support the Ad Sales team over a 12-week rotation, gaining exposure to key areas including ad sales, research, pricing and planning, and marketing. The role involves assisting with marketing presentation decks, researching audience demographics, and analyzing performance on Hallmark’s 3 networks. Interns will also gain an understanding of basic media math, inventory management, and sales processes while understanding how ad placements are managed and executed on Hallmark’s networks. This comprehensive experience provides valuable insights into how the department operates and ensures seamless client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

During your Pricing & Planning rotation, you can expect to:

  • Build an understanding of what pricing & planning is and how pricing & planning work closely with sales, finance, research, ad sales marketing, traffic, and other teams to help maximize ad sales revenue.

  • Have hands-on analytics experience that may include, revenue modeling, inventory analysis, sales pipeline analysis, etc. 

  • Gain insights into Wide Orbit (WO) our sales order management system.

  • Learn the basics of media math.

During your Research rotation, you can expect to:

  • Get practical experience with Nielsen and other software systems the team utilizes.

  • Gain knowledge of how the Research department supports the Ad Sales team, as well as how the department works with Pricing & Planning, Finance, and ASM to help drive sales revenue.

  • Spend time meeting with other members of the team who support Distribution, Programming and Marketing to gain exposure to the entirety of the Research department’s functionality.

 During your Ad Sales rotation, you can expect to:

  • Immerse yourself in the Hallmark brand to get an understanding of the value it creates for our advertising partners.

  • Learn the basics of how Ad Sales inventory is sold and managed, in both an upfront and scatter capacity.

  • Develop an understanding of how to brand, track, and properly allocate Ad Sales inventory.

  • Gain experience in managing and delivering on client expectations.

  • Learn valuable communication skills.

 During your Marketing rotation, you can expect to:

  • Collaborate on client RFPs, creating tailored sponsorships with internal teams for comprehensive solutions.

  • Develop and maintain a library of marketing materials, including one-sheets, banners, logos, and campaign assets.

  • Support Ad Sales Marketing in creating unique premiums to attract clients.

  • Manage the premium inventory and keep the team updated.

  • Research and share competitive insights to keep Hallmark Media informed on industry trends.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Rising junior or senior from a four-year university.

  • Preferred area of study in Communications, Marketing or Business.

  • Technical Skills: High level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, ability to manipulate data sets, create advanced formulas, and utilize pivot tables.

  •  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Other information

The hourly range for this job is $17.27. Hourly rate will take into consideration several factors including location.
