Repeat after me: it’s okay to take a break.

This afternoon at Office Hours, our VP of Sales and Business Development at Her Campus Media, Katrina Campanale, was joined by special guest Elon Woods, Brand Activation Manager at The Coca-Cola Company! They chatted about all things wellness and how to take care of yourself while working or studying from home, plus they announced two new job opportunities at Coca-Cola! If you’re feeling unmotivated or could use a boost, here are three lessons from office hours to help you upgrade your at-home wellness game.

Establish a morning routine

“It’s imperative for us to be mindful of self-care and wellness, especially during this time,” says Elon, who currently manages brand activation at The Coca-Cola Company. “I’m a mom of two and constantly being pulled in many directions in addition to being a professional! I start my day with a small routine that helps me feel good. While my little ones are running around, I drink matcha in the morning. That’s a moment of self-care and wellness for me.”

If you’re feeling pulled in many directions too, you’re not alone. Try starting a regular morning routine like making coffee or taking some slow, deep breaths, and notice how your day transforms.

Normalize taking time for yourself (and rest!)

“As women, we’re always pouring into everyone else, but you can’t pour from an empty cup!” says Elon, who reminds students and young professionals that it’s important to take a step back sometimes. “Find small things you can do on a daily basis, whether it’s jogging, exercising, or even yoga.” Elon is also a fan of taking 20-minute power naps and listening to motivating music throughout the day. “I encourage a dance party every single day!” she says. “I choose a song that will get me jazzed.”

You can overcome your limiting beliefs

Now more than ever, it can feel overwhelming to work or attend school from home. Elon says that although you may doubt yourself, it’s always possible to overcome your limiting beliefs. “Go for it!” she says. “Whatever it is you’re questioning right now, whatever you think you can’t do, whatever those limiting beliefs are, remember, they are not real. Go for it.”

As we head into Women’s History Month, Elon also reminds us that the trailblazing women who came before us paved the way because they decided to go for it, even when they had doubts. Her advice? “Do it anyway. Do it scared. You can always correct a [career] decision, but you can’t correct a decision you never made.”

We loved Katrina and Elon’s tips and tricks for maintaining wellness at home and chasing your goals, and hope you did, too!
